Welcome to X-Men: Factions!
It has been years since HYDRA’s attack on S.H.I.E.L.D., and subsequently, the world. HYDRA was beaten back into the shadows, a whole host of heroes, and villains alike, facing off against the cascade of nightmares that arose seemingly from nowhere. Many were lost, and those that survived will likely always bear the scars. However, life tends to find a way of marching into the future, if given half a chance.
In the same spirit that has seen humanity rise from the many horrors of the past, people stepped out into a new day, a new reality. One that has recently seen metahuman inhabitants of earth gain a measure of rights.
Though those rewards were bestowed by grateful nations, for heroic deeds that most still cannot imagine, not everyone agrees with that course of action. Many still fear the raw power of those that are called mutants, afraid that they will simply use that power to subjugate those that are weaker than themselves. A fact that is difficult to debate while those that would abuse their power are still creating their own brand of chaos. Where a vacuum is created, others seek to fill the void. And while heroes always rise to meet the villains head on, there is always the fear of that which is not understood.
Where there is a split in ideology, different factions take shape, and that is exactly what the world has evolved into. A number of powerful factions have risen in the wake of the destruction.
