Mission:
The Factions
Location: Syracuse, NY
Timeline: Present Day
The way Lexi carried herself as she walked excited Zo in a way she couldn't explain. Was it admiration? Was it a desire to be more like Lexi? She didn't know and before she could figure it out the girl was standing less then a step away from her, a cup already in her hand.
"I didn't think if I would see you here."
"Tommy's parties seem to be the same event on repeat, so my attendance is less and less these days." Zo said as she smiled and quickly brought her cup to her lips taking a bigger then necessary gulp. 'Ugh. This beer is disgusting.' She thought.
"Ah, I see." Lexi followed suit and took a sip of her own cup. "It's gross isn't it?"
"Oh my god yes." Both girls started laughing, the sound drawing attention from those close by. "But for something that's free I guess I shouldn't complain."
Lexi shrugged, "You have a point. So did you come with Hayden?" The blonde searched the crowd for him. When she spotted him with Tommy and a few other classmates it seemed like there was a flash of disappointment on her face.
"I did." Zo desperately wanted to change the subject. Her nerves were building, she had to do or say something else. "The water looks really pretty, follow me I know a spot." Zo gestured for Lexi to follow her through the wooded area towards a hill that jutted out over the water like a cliff.
"No way in hell, man!" Hayden exclaimed to Tommy. "The '69 Camaro is a far better ride than the Charger!" As the guys kept arguing about which classic car was better, Hayden noticed Zo and Lexi heading off by themselves. He wondered what they were up to, two of the hottest girls in school.
In just a few minutes Zo and Lexi emerged from the woods and stood on the edge of the cliff that looked down over the water. The open sky was speckled with tiny stars. From where they stood the two could just barely be seen by the group below. Zo had found this spot on a night she became bored with the inconsequential conversations she had with her peers.
"Wow." She breathed. Lexi's face was to the sky, her beautiful blue eyes reflecting the stars shinning down on them. "This view is so much better." She looked down towards the water and then Lexi's face shifted into a devious expression. The look giving Zo pause, she was up to something.
"It's a rather warm night wouldn't you agree?" Lexi wore side smirk before downing the remaining contents of her cup.
"I mean I guess, what are you thinking?!" Zo's suspicion was sky high now. This girl was planning something.
Lexi set her cup down and shrugged out of her jacket before slipping off her shoes.
"Lexi....whatever your planning is most definitely a bad idea." Zo warned.
Lexi stepped closer to Zo, so close she could feel the other girls body heat and smell the cheap beer on her breath, but there was also that floral perfume she always wore underneath.
"Jump with me." She locked her eyes on Zo's, daring her to reject the idea.
"You're joking." Zo gulped, finding it difficult to pull her eyes away.
Lexi just smiled as she emptied the contents of her pockets onto the pile of clothing. The girl was left in her undershirt and shorts. She started tying back her hair, she was clearly going to jump with or without Zo. Then she held her hand.
Zo's face paled, she looked down at the extended hand. "Jump with me." Lexi repeated in a softer tone.
She couldn't explain what possessed her in that moment, maybe because she had absolutely no will power when it came to any request this girl gave or perhaps it was that this was exactly what she had always been waiting for, someone spontaneous, adventurous. Someone unpredictable. Someone to breach the everyday norm Zo was stuck in.
Zo brought the cup to her lips but thought better of it and set it down. Then she striped down to her bra and shorts. She knew everyone would see them when they came out of the water but it didn't stop her. Zo took Lexi's hand, lacing their fingers. She took a deep breath.
"Ready?" Lexi's eyebrows raised momentarily, her face that of pure joy.
The adrenaline was racing though Zo's veins, she couldn't find her voice to respond so instead she nodded fiercely.
The girls took off in a sprint and within seconds there was nothing beneath their feet but air. They both let out a scream.
Hayden was busy looking for Zo. He was about to head in the direction that she and Lexi had gone when he heard the screams from above. Spinning around, he managed to catch sight of the two girls landing in the deep spring.
Jogging over to the edge of the water, he had a huge grin on his face as both girls emerged, looking even sexier now that they were soaked. Removing his jacket he moved to drape it over Zo's shoulders. "Babe, that was awesome!" He then whispered into her ear. "And have I told you just how hot you look when you're soaking wet?"
Zo's face tinted a light pink when Hayden whispered in her ear. The exchange between them seemed uncomfortable and Zo for the life of her couldn't figure out why. Chuckling she rejected the jacket, "I’m okay." She immediately regretted it, she could feel herself pushing Hayden away, little by little everyday. He was nothing but what he had always been to her, extremely attentive, patient with her quiet nature, sure he had his faults, but nothing to which would cause Zo to push him away. Because it wasn’t him, it was her.
Realizing this and refusing to believe it, Zo pulled Hayden to her by his tee shirt, she flung both arms around his neck and pulled herself to him kissing him fiercely. There were a few howls in the background but Zo ignored it as she pressed her wet self to Hayden, soaking the front of his shirt and shoulders.
At first, Hayden was confused by Zo's rejection if his jacket, and her blushing after his private comment. Maybe she was worried that someone could have heard him.
But then, all his doubts left when Zo practically mounted him and kissed him fiercely. With no hesitation, be wrapped his arms around her, one across her back, the other under her tight ass, and returned her kiss with equal passion, his tongue sliding into her mouth, rubbing against hers.
After a few moments Zo pulled away, she must have still been feeling the effects of the adrenaline because it was unlike her to be so forward in a public setting. Releasing her hold on Hayden she stepped back, "I gotta go get my clothes, save a spot by the fire?" She made eye contact with Lexi and gave a motion for her to follow.
Still feeling a bit breathless by the passion of their kiss, Hayden could only nod in acknowledgement. As he moved towards the bonfire, his mind was racing to what he hoped would happen tonight, after the party.
Lexi followed Zo back into the woods without a word, the girl didn't even make a noise. Zo kept kissing and owing every other step wishing she had left her shoes on. When she reached the clearing she turned to Lexi, she had already been looking at her, those blue eyes seemed darker, more distant.
Zo furrowed her brows, "Are you okay? You didn't get hurt did you?" Worry flashed across her face as she began scanning Lexi for bruises or scratches.
Lexi's face cracked into a half smile, she simply walked around Zo to retrieve her belongings with out saying anything. The act caused Zo to frown.
"What's wrong Lexi?" She tried again.
The blonde started putting her clothes back on, then picked up the red solo cup before straightening. "I'm gonna head out. See you on monday?"
Why was she leaving? Did Zo do or say something to cause the girl to grow distant? She wanted to ask her a million questions but something told her to stop, to let her go.
"Yeah." She said unsurely with a nod of her head. She watched as Lexi turned to leave, not going back the way the girls had come. Should she follow? Would she be okay? The confliction Zo felt was starting to give her a headache, she wanted to make sure Lexi was okay, she shouldn't let her wonder out alone but she also knew better then to suffocate someone. Giving up she turned to dress herself and make her way back to the party. Her brain still replaying the interactions to decipher what she could have done to cause Lexi to leave like that. When Zo found her way to Hayden's side she was still mentally wrapped up in thought.
Hayden smiled warmly when Zo approached him. His brow furrowed slightly as he saw that she seemed bothered by something. When she sat down next to him, he put his arm her and asked in a soft voice, "Hey babe, is something wrong? You look like you saw something that disturbed you."
Zo shook her head braving a glance at Hayden’s face. It was out of his norm to be so observant, maybe he could since something shift in her the way she had. Zo thought she was doing a good job of hiding it but now she felt differently. That didn’t stop her from denying it. Pretending everything was perfect, fine, normal. She leaned in closer to his side, resting her head in his shoulder. She watched the flames of the fire dance, the music and sounds of the party only a dull thrum in her ears. In the fire she could see dancers, moving swiftly together and separate, jumping higher until only the smoke weaved it’s way skyward.
