Mission: The Factions
Location: Georgetown, Washington, DC/Destiny’s
Timeline: Evening

Destiny Winters stood on the balcony overlooking the open foyer of the mansion house. Two grand staircases flanked the room leading up to the second floor balcony, while the rest of the house lay behind the entryway. Veronica was working the front desk, with Missy and Jenny assisting, mingling with the arriving clients. Most of them avoided eye contact with each other, attempting to not recognize the others, even though they likely mingled in other social situations outside of the house. It was the front girls’ job to get them processed quickly and into a more private, intimate location within the house. Derrick and Jason stood at the ends of the stairs wearing formal vests, but no shirts, emphasizing their muscled arms, acting as security if they were needed.

The gorgeous black woman on the balcony wore a white suit with an open jacket revealing a black bandeau top that showed off her sculpted abs and plenty of beautiful cleavage. She sipped a glass of champagne as she mentally ticked off politicians, lobbyists, and, yes, a sheik visiting her establishment of intimate companionship.

A young woman of Asian extraction approached Destiny on the balcony, and the black woman smiled. The girl was young-looking, though clearly mature. “How is business tonight, Jade?” Destiny asked. Her accent was posh British, perfect Received Pronunciation to befit the aura of refined sensibility exuded by the establishment.

“Booming, Ms. Winters,” Jade Matthews said, her own accent a Hong Kong British blend revealing her mixed heritage. She handed over the tablet, and Destiny scanned the guest list. All names were, of course, converted to individual ID numbers by an encryption algorithm of Destiny’s own design to protect the privacy of her patrons. “Send a bottle of champagne to Senator Kelly’s room,” Destiny said. “Did she go with male or female tonight?” she queried curiously. It wasn’t just men that came up the long private drive to the well-sheltered white antebellum mansion to enjoy the company of attractive young people.

“Both, ma’am,” Jade said. “She seems to be celebrating something.”

“Yes, indeed, if rumors are true,” Destiny said. “She was just appointed to the World Security Council and will announce her run for Senate. “And make sure the girls working the dungeon tonight know Senator Taffert’s safe word this time please. We don’t want a repeat of last month.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Jade said, sending the champagne via the internal ordering system of the house and texting a reminder to the dungeon girls.

“There is one more thing, Ms. Winters. There is someone in your office to see you.”

Destiny blinked. “Is it scheduled.” She heard the tightness in Jade’s voice.

“No, ma’am.”

“Who?”

Him.” Jade said the word with emphasis.

Destiny took in a long breath and then looked at Jade. “Are you okay?” she asked the young woman quietly.

“I will be, ma’am.”

Destiny nodded. “If you need to, take a break.”

“What I need is him in the dungeon,” Jade said, pale and shaking.

“Unfortunately, that would just leave you in the ground beside Oppie.”

A tear escaped Jade’s eye, but she wiped it away quickly and expertly without smudging her mascara.

“A turn in the dungeon might not do you ill,” Destiny said with an understanding smile. “Just...not with Senator Taffert. Go take a whip to one of the practice dummies.”

“But the meeting…”

“I can handle the meeting alone, love,” Destiny said, her voice softening. “Do send a quick text to Ms. Roman that he is here, though. You know how she likes to keep abreast of her uncle’s whereabouts.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Destiny watched Jade walk off, texting away. She said a brief prayer and then headed toward her office, her stiletto heels clicking on the marble flooring until she stopped. A large man in a black suit stood in front of the door. If his IQ was larger than his chest size, Destiny would be surprised.

“Excuse me?” Destiny said, arching a perfectly sculpted eyebrow at the man, who stepped aside and opened the door for her.
