Busy night

Zach was running late to his work due to public transportation the light railway on time but the bus to their work was slow due to a major amount of passengers that day they weren’t paying attention but it seemed like it was a convention week that drew a lot of people to the city, they knew the restaurant would be busy because of it.

Zach ran from the stop into their work to get there at least on time faster than they ever had before. As they got into the restaurant and clocked in as fast as they could they changed and went into the back of the kitchen where they saw their boss red in the face and sweating as he was working the grill. Zach then said, “Hey boss sorry I’m late it was a busy weekend, my boyfriend just moved in and we had to move his stuff from his old place into mine.”

“Jesus Zach text me when the bus or light rail is running late its ECCC and we have a lot of customers today,” He said as he turned to Zach.

“Sorry I didn’t realize it was this week,” Zach managed to say before their boss interrupted them as he cocked his head.

“You have a boyfriend I thought you just had a fuck buddy?”

“Well I did but then I asked if he wanted to move in and he then said yes and then he asked if we should call ourselves dating and I said yes because I figured why not.”

“NIce was it a long weekend because of how busy you were with him.”

“Yes it was chef,” Zach said as he blushed very heavily then moving to grab the pan his boss was ignoring as the food was about to burn he then plated it put it in the food window as the dish was already done. Zach then turned around to face his boss then asking, “How late are you going to be here today?”

He replied as he was moving back to the prep area, “Probably till 9 today and we aren’t gonna close till midnight most likely since the out-of-towners are gonna want somewhere to eat.”

“Alright,” Zach said as he grabbed the ticket that came up and began cooking.



About 8 hours later it was midnight and no tickets had come in for at least 15 minutes which meant Zach had begun cleaning up not really talking to his co-worker as it was just late at night and they were tired as it was a non-stop rush till 11:30. They then put what they had as dirty dishes in the dish pit and then wrapped everything up changed clothes and then clocked out walking to their bus stop as it was a 24/7 line. They knew the light rail wasn’t 24/7 so they were contemplating on either walking home or somehow budgeting for a Uber or Lyft because he knew Will would probably be asleep by this point but that was something to think about later.
