A Little Chat

Mission: The Factions
Location: Zach and Will's Condo
Timeline: Current

Will's eyes fluttered open. His internal alarm clock always went off at the same time every morning, 4:00 AM. Normally, this wasn't a problem. He was an early bird and used the time to study, exercise, or just generally get prepared for the rest of his day. He only needed five hours of sleep, and unlike most of the other college students that he knew, he wasn't a party animal. Occasionally, usually, when ragged to a party by Zach he'd be up late, but that was rare. Eleven or Eleven thirty was his go-to bedtime.

But, he hadn't gotten five hours of sleep, he'd barely gotten two. Zach had kept him up most of the night, or more accurately they'd kept each other up. Not that, Will was complaining in any way. They had been celebrating. And what a celebration it had been.

Zach's inert form was curled up against him and their legs were entangled. He resisted the urge to wake him with a kiss. The other boy was many things, but an early bird was not one of them. He stared at him for a few minutes. Then slowly and carefully, so as not to wake him, he untangled his legs and got out of bed. He picked up his phone from off the nightstand on his<?i>side of the bed found some underwear off the floor that may, or may not have been his, and grabbed a pair of gym shorts that definitely belonged to him and left the bedroom.

Barefoot and shirtless he made his way out of the bedroom closing the door behind him. Knowing Zach, it would be hours before he woke up and Will was okay with that. They had breakfast plans but that was hours away as well and Will had expended a lot of energy the night before so he was hungry. He poured himself a bowl of Raisin Bran, ate it, rinsed the bowl out in the sink then stepped into the living room.

By then it was 4:30, 7:30 back in New York, his folks, at least his dad would be up by now. So he picked up his phone, went to his Skype app, and called them.

"Hey dad," he said as a man in a maroon shirt and paisley tie answered the phone.

"Hey Will," his dad replied, you're calling early you okay? Need some money?"

Will shook his head, "Of course I'm fine and no, I don't need money."

"Okay, and not that I'm complaining, it's always good to hear from you, but why so early? Oh, wait you're not home, are you? Are you at Zach's place, you sly dog you?"

"It's not Zach's place dad."

"It's not? It sure looks like it. Please tell me you're not cheating on him, we raised you better."

"No, Dad, I'm not cheating. Don't you know me better than that? And, if I were being a cheating bastard, would I call you and announce it?"
Will held up his phone and panned the room. "This isn't Zach's place anymore, it's our our place. He asked 'me to move in last night and, well here I am."

"Your mother will be thrilled, it's about time you settled down."

"I don't think you need to order a wedding planner book yet. We're just moving in."

"Do you love him?"

"Yeah, of course, for sure. Otherwise, I wouldn't have accepted."

And he loves you too, right?"

"Yeah, he does.

"Then that is good enough for me. The two of you should fly out here, our treat."

"Yeah, we actually talked about that last night."

"You spent your time talking what's wrong with you?"

"Very funny dad, very funny indeed.

"We're just wrapping up a big case, some mutant falsely accused, I think we have a strong case. We've got closing arguments on Wednesday. Why don't you let me make a couple of reservations for this weekend."

"I don't know dad. I can ask him but I'm not going to insist or try to be pushy."

"Fine, but tell him it will be First Class all the way. Has he ever flown first class?"

"No, I don't know if he's ever flown, but I don't think that stiff impress him.

"Well, first-class or coach that's up to you. Just call me on Monday and let me know."

"Okay dad, I will."

Congratulations again son. I love you. I have your back."

"Bye, Dad, I love you too."

Then will turned the phone off and walked into the bedroom he now shared with Zach.
