Personal History | James was born in Bakersfield California two weeks after his parents married, and his father was not happy about it – he had not wanted children that early in their marriage or more accurately at that time in his career, and he never let James forget that either. Five months later, the family moved to New York when his father got a job offer from a large Manhattan law firm. Seven months after that, his sister Kat was born. This did not seem to help the situation as his parents nearly got divorced. They lived here for most of James' life. He was not a straight-A student, but he did get solid B's. That wasn't good enough for his father, though. During his elementary school years, James tried out several sports but found none to his liking. He did find art to his liking, though, and began learning to sketch. As one can guess, this did not please his father either. Jack took every opportunity to belittle his son, seemingly endlessly. When Kat had graduated from Junior High, the family moved back to Bakersfield, California. While it was a city, it was not nearly as large or intense as NYC. James and Kat both went to North High School, though she was a freshman, and he was a sophomore. |
