Personal History | Hikaru was born in the city of Saitama, Kanto region outside Tokyo, Japan. His father was a career company business executive. It was during his childhood that he went with his father to see the Saitama Seibu Lions professional baseball team every year. He learned in his early childhood how to take care of bonsai trees from his mother. At the age of ten, his father was sent to the United States to work for a business subsidiary located there. Akari and Hikaru both went with him. He spent his formative years becoming ingrained in American culture. At the age of thirteen, he became a U.S. citizen along with his father and mother. He successfully earned a position on his high school baseball team, which won a regional championship his senior year. Once he entered college, Hikaru joined the U.S. Army ROTC program, in which he quickly excelled. Once he graduated with a degree in ancient history, he also accepted a commission in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant in the infantry. Hikaru was originally assigned to the Fourth Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. He took on army life quite well due to his disciplined upbringing. However, he didn’t stay there for long. Soon after, he completed Airborne then Ranger School, being among those selected to join the 75th Ranger Regiment. However, he passed the Special Forces Qualification Course and became a Green Beret, assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group. During his service, he learned several combat skills such as High Altitude, Low Opening (HALO) jumping, Combat Diver Course and the Special Forces Sniper School, among many other related topics. It was around the time that he was promoted to major when he was selected to join The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta (1st SFOD-D), commonly referred to as Delta Force, the elite counter-terrorism unit of the U.S. Army. At this time, the U.S. government was becoming more active against HYDRA and began using its own military forces for their own ends. While a member of Delta Force, Major Yoshida participated in several country-HYDRA operations. One such mission was a direct assault of a key HYDRA facility, unaware of what was contained within. It would forever change Hikaru’s life... |
