| Personal History | Dominic was born and raised in rural Iowa. He studied military history in college as he went through the ROTC program, and then joined the Marines, where he went to specialty school to join the Marine Force Recon. Dominic served as a sniper with distinction in the Balkans before rising in the peace time ranks and getting additional education in criminology and languages. With the advent of the War on Terror, Force Recon became Marines Special Operations Command (MARSOC), and Dominic served in Afghanistan. It was in Afghanistan that Dominic’s MARSOC team was seconded to an operative from SHIELD named Nick Fury, helping take out a HYDRA base. Impressed with Pierce’s showing in Afghanistan, Nick Fury recruited Pierce to work with him in SHIELD, dealing with the more shadowy side of SHIELD, while Maria Hill was a more public assistant to the director. During the HYDRA Uprising that dismantled SHIELD, Pierce led raids against HYDRA factions, In one conflict, he discovered a facility where they were cloning embryos and genetically altering them for superhuman abilities. Three subjects had been activated when Pierce’s team assaulted the facility, and they managed to destroy Pierce’s team, and nearly killed Pierce, except for a lucky stun grenade. The three superhumans were merely ten year old girls! With SHIELD dismantled and declared a terrorist organization by the United States government, Pierce brought the girls to his home in Iowa to raise and train them while he worked occasional missions for SHIELD or other government agencies. Dominic was recently called out of unofficial retirement to become the new director of SHIELD. He has placed his girls in the prestigious Drake Academy. |
